CUG Connect
CUG Connect was developed to assist businesses in effectively managing multiple Closed User Group (CUG) hosts through a single Point of Sale (POS) terminal. This project was initiated at the request of Walnut, who faced the challenge of integrating multiple loyalty programs into a single point of sale for their customers.
Multiple loyalty programs on one terminal
Walnut, one of our valued clients, faced a common problem: there were multiple loyalty card providers used by their customers, but their POS terminal could support only one provider at a time. The various CUG hosts being used, such as Walnut, Extendas, and Airmiles, could not all be integrated into a single terminal, leading to inefficiencies and complexities for both management and end-users.
The CUG Connect system
Het doel van het CUG Connect-project was om deze beperking op te heffen en een oplossing te bieden waarmee meerdere CUG-hosts op een enkele POS-terminal kunnen worden beheerd. Door een intuĂ¯tieve interface te creĂ«ren, stelt CUG Connect gebruikers in staat om gemakkelijk hun POS-apparaten te beheren en verschillende CUG-hosts per apparaat toe te wijzen.
CUG Connect biedt een aantal belangrijke kenmerken die het beheer van POS-apparaten en CUG-hosts vereenvoudigen. Gebruikers kunnen met slechts een paar klikken CUG-hosts toevoegen, bewerken of verwijderen voor elk POS-apparaat. Dankzij de realtime integratie stuurt de POS-terminal een verzoek naar de toegewezen CUG-hosts via een URL, die vervolgens de transactie goedkeuren of afwijzen. De toepassing is ontworpen met een gebruikersvriendelijke interface, waardoor het beheer van apparaten overzichtelijk en efficiënt verloopt.
Benefits of CUG Connect
CUG Connect offers significant benefits for end-users, application administrators, and businesses. Consumers enjoy a seamless experience by being able to use any loyalty program supported by the stores, without worrying about which CUG host is set up on the terminal. Application administrators have full control over their POS devices and can easily configure CUG hosts while gaining insight into the status of their devices, including the five most recent transactions. For businesses like Walnut, this means they can offer their customers a much smoother experience and reduce the administrative burden associated with managing multiple loyalty programs.
Technical challenges and solutions
During the development of CUG Connect, we faced several technical challenges, such as converting XML messages from Payter terminals to JSON format and ensuring fast response times for transactions. Our software solution not only provides an effective system that processes transactions within three seconds but also meets the highest security standards with 99.999% uptime and encrypted data storage to comply with GDPR.
